Overpacker or perfect packer? Which are you?
The tricky part about quick day trips / weekend trips is that it can be all too easy to either completely overestimate everything you may need, lending you to overpack, or you will totally underestimate it, leaving you feeling naked without your things while you’re away from your home.
Now, honestly, I have always been an over-packer. I am talking about having an entire suitcase packed with every possible outfit for every type of weather condition puzzled perfectly together with beauty products for my hair, body and face.
Over the last few years, between quick business trips and 24 hour turn around trips back to California, I have slowly perfected packing my weekender.
10 Things Your Weekender Needs:
Basic Camisole/bodysuit: Preferably white, tan, or black. I love my bodysuits from Banana Republic; click here to shop my favorite ones. These are easy to pair with jeans and a light jacket, under a skirt, or even with sweats.
Non-iron outfit: Think about something that you can pack in your bag with it ready to wear; without needing an iron. The reason for this is whether traveling in a car or by plane; it can be uncomfortable sitting in jeans, a skirt, or a pantsuit. It is easy to quickly change into the outfit upon arrival.
Light makeup: CC Cream, Concealer, brow glue, blush, nude eyeshadow pallet & lipstick. I focus on bringing along the necessary products for something quick, on the go that can also double for quick touch-ups throughout the day.
Toiletries: Dry shampoo, a hairbrush to make sure you can touch up along the way, a toothbrush, facial cleanser, lotion, etc. You can save a lot of room in your bag if you size down to toiletry containers.
A pair of heels: Heels simply bring me so much joy, so naturally, they will find a way in my bag. You never know when you may need to spice up your outfit for dinner or even drinks, so this is usually one of the first things I pack after figuring out my outfit.
Pajama set: Lounge and sleep comfortably.
Sunglasses/Hat
A light jacket: airplanes are cold, evenings can get quite chilly, and you never know if it will rain. It is better to error on the side of caution when it comes to staying warm. Pro-tip, have your jacket match your main outfit, keep it lightweight, and comfortable for travel.
Sunscreen: Keep that face and neck looking young.
Electronics: The laptop, camera, AirPods, watch, iPad, and chargers need to be packed.
