Livin’ Lavish
Ever since I was a little girl, it has been on my bucket list to stay at an all-inclusive resort on the beach. Little did I know that 23 years young, I would have an opportunity to do so. I guess what they say is true when you work hard enough for what you want in life, soon enough you will have it.
I came to visit this side of Mexico, last March. Yes, you read that right, March of 2020. Originally this trip began as one of our manager's annual international R&R trips. As time drew nearer, Covid-19 cases were beginning to spike drastically on an international scale. Naturally, executives needed to abide by their countries’ regulations and shutdowns, leaving the group’s numbers quickly dwindling. For those who were in the states, well it was going by state-to-state bases as to whether or not the state was allowing international travel.
Since our trip was already booked, the overly eager traveler I am, decided that it would be foolish to not take the trip!

You may find that photographs in mobile view are cropped disproportionately. Viewing these pages on a desktop will remedy the situation.
The logistics:
This Princess Hotel & Resorts chain is a large international traveling entity that provides accommodations for those traveling to tropical destinations. The location we stayed at was the Grand Sunset Resort in Cancún.
We ended up staying at the resort for 4 days, 3 nights, leaving a day early in order to ensure our safe return back to the States prior to the Mexican-American borders being shut down.
For those who know me, as most of you do, I am one of those people who has to “make it make sense” to myself when it comes to spending any type of money.
Once you begin factoring into the costs that are accrued just upon landing at your vacation destination; transportation to and from the airport, all meals, drinks and activities… it becomes overwhelming clear that it is most sensible to indulge in an all inclusive package.
Usually the cost of the trip will come out cheaper and you get the benefit of less stress!
Now for those of you who have never stayed in a resort before, let me explain to you some of what was included in the all inclusive stay:
All meals, all days, at any restaurant/cafe on the property
Unlimited drinks including beach bars & swim up pool bars
Access to a private beach & water park
Access to all 12 pools
Access to a full service spa & salon
Access to all nightly shows
Gambling credits
Laundry services
All sports courts, private sand volleyball courts, etc
Discounted rates on all excursions:
Jet skiing & Canoeing
Scuba diving & Snorkeling
Mayan ruin explorations
Zip-lining
My advice when looking to do a trip like this is simply to plan ahead. I suggest a 4-6 month lead time as this will provide you ample time to do all your research and save up all your coins.
Any time you need to book flights or hotel/resort accommodations, you want to give yourself a chance to grab a steal of a deal! If you wait till the last minute you will end up paying double or triple the original cost.
Oh, also, learn from my mistakes! Don’t get tempted to book with a 3rd party site who’s “bundle deals” are literally a fraction of the true costs. This will leave you stuck at the airport in an unknown country with all of your luggage in hand and no car there to pick you up as promised. Why? All because that company declared bankruptcy the day before your trip, therefore canceling the car and resort reservations with no heads up. (yes, very true story.. thank goodness I know Spanish.)
