What you need to know before going to the Grand Canyon

There is nothing like being able to stand on top of a cliff and truly feel as though you are standing on the top of the world, looking down on millions of years of creation.

Coming straight from California and then making the next stop here at the Grand Canyon was something that I will never be able to forget. All for the fact that the purity of the air, the true cleanliness filling my lungs was the first time in my life that I felt I wasn’t breathing crap from the tailpipe of a vehicle.

Admission to Grand Canyon Park, with visitation to the North Rim and South Rim, is $35 per vehicle. This will grant you access to the Park for the following 7 days. Truthfully I had not done my due diligence of researching the Park before us arriving there or else I would have planned for us to stay there longer to embark on some of the longer trails leading to the South Rim and down into the canyons.

If you’re planning a trip to the Grand Canyon, here are a few tips for you to remember;

  • Bring closed-toed shoes that you do not mind getting dirty, hiking shoes preferably. This will allow you to have a better grip on the dirt and small rocks that are along the trails.

  • Portable phone chargers are a must.

  • Have a backpack for snacks, wipes, a map, etc.

  • A reusable water bottle. There are a few water stations throughout the park.

  • Baseball caps will allow you to help keep the sun out of your eyes and off your face.

  • Sunscreen is a must.

Most people often visit during the summer months, which means that the lines are longer and the crowds are deeper to fight. A pro tip is to visit during the winter months, where the views are just as stunning with the luxury of not having to fight the big crowds.
